Have you ever faced an inner struggle over whether to achieve a specific goal or overcome an undesired habit? Have you tried hypnosis for the same goal more than once?
Parts therapy offers a powerful approach to resolving inner conflicts through hypnosis, often succeeding where other hypnotic techniques may fall short. Experts suggest that we each have between five and fifteen subconscious aspects (or "parts") that influence us weekly, like wearing different “hats” depending on our roles and circumstances. Parts therapy leverages these different aspects, helping clients harmonize inner conflicts more effectively. Practitioners worldwide use parts therapy or similar methods based on this principle to guide clients toward resolution.
Originally developed by the late Charles Tebbetts, a pioneer of client-centered hypnotherapy, parts therapy is closely related to ego state therapy, voice dialogue, and similar techniques under various names. Before his passing, Tebbetts entrusted Roy Hunter to continue his work. With thoughtful updates, Roy Hunter now teaches Client-Centered Parts Therapy.
How can you effectively support clients grappling with inner conflicts? If a client has a strong desire to achieve a goal but continually faces self-sabotage, they may be an ideal candidate for Parts Therapy. This powerful method, initially developed by the late Charles Tebbetts, is emulated by many under various names due to its ability to help clients break through barriers that other techniques often cannot overcome. To achieve the best results, however, practitioners must skillfully navigate potential pitfalls.
Roy Hunter, an accomplished author of multiple hypnosis texts based on Tebbetts’ teachings, also published *Hypnosis for Inner Conflict Resolution: Introducing Parts Therapy* (Crown House Publishing, 2005).
